It was around 8 years ago that I was introduced to the splendor of a used book. I bought my first ‘antique’ book when a friend of mine brought me to a hole in the wall antique store where I live in Naples, FL. At first, my love for literature drew me to the beauty in the torn spines, deteriorating pages and musty smell of past generations (and every now and then the occasional insect which would escape). But as I began to open the books and read the classic stories I had always wanted to experience, I discovered another treasure beyond what the author ever intended. Within the books themselves were notes and thoughts, penned in ink for all of eternity, which exposed the heart that once read the story. It was the opportunity to step into the shoes of another and see how each story broke and influenced their heart that drew me into a greater love for literature. From that point on, a passion stirred in my heart for the treasure of a good used book. I believe there’s a story that goes beyond the page and it is one that is created in the heart and soul of the one who reads it. Too seldomly are these stories shared.
So let this page be a place where you can see my heart and share in my experiences of the books I read. I intend to share the stories and influence the books I read create imprint upon my heart and soul, in the rawness of which they come. My prayer is that as I do so, your heart would experience the same emotion and life as mine, while encouraging all of you to pursue similar journeys of your own.
God bless you!
